Best Bets

R3/2- CHANDON BURJ (BEST OF DAY)

  • Forgiving the run of CHANDON BURJ here 2 weeks ago. She was slow away from an inside barrier and settled near last which is against where she usually runs best which is up on the speed. Think if she can push forwards early today from barrier 1, she will be able to improve off that last run and find herself in a better position. She has run a big figure here at The Valley before so looks to like the track and Craig Newitt back on who has won 2/4 with her.

R5/6- MAXIMILLIUS (VALUE OF DAY)

  • Not a proven 1st up performer having never placed in 4 previous 1st up runs. But majority of her 1st up runs have been in stronger races at black type & handicap level. He finds himself competing at Benchmark grade today for the first time in his career and this looks like some what of a confidence building run for him. He has trialled well coming back to this and shouldn’t be far away.

R9/4- OMNI MAN

  • Is in flying form having won 3 in a row and gunning for his 4th straight. He continues to rise through the grades and looks like the type of runner that will appreciate this track. He comes back to the 1000m trip which suits (5:5-0-0) and conditions here suit him. It all points to him putting on a good showing here.

R10/11- PEREILLE

  • PEREILLE produced an impressive run here a fortnight ago against a very obvious track pattern. He reeled off some of the fastest closing sectionals of the whole meeting (L400 5th fastest & L200 3rd fastest) and he only just missed on the line. Expecting if this track is playing more fair he should get his chance and jumping from barrier 5 he will likely settle more forward about midfield and in a nice position.
